An elegant celebration, Prêt-à-Portea is the haute couture afternoon tea service deliciously imported across the Atlantic from our sister hotel The Berkeley. After nearly two decades of delighting guests in London, the beloved high fashion take on afternoon tea will make its American debut with Prêt-à-Portea: The Red Carpet Collection. A favorite among fashionistas with a sweet tooth, Prêt-à-Portea has redefined afternoon tea with playful couture cakes turning celebrity fashion moments into edible art.
The Maybourne Beverly Hills' newly-dubbed The Terrace Tea Room injects Hollywood's sartorial style into the affair, hosting showstopping hand-crafted pâtisserie that marry design, decadent flavors, and pay homage to the iconic red carpet moments, from Björk’s famous Oscar swan dress by Marjan Pejoski to JLo’s infamous green Versace gown at the Grammy’s.
With every eye-popping dessert featuring stars of film and music, Executive Pastry Chef Brooke Martin's meticulous display of craftsmanship surprises and delights akin to Paris's finest fashion designers, evident in every hand-piped rose or gold-dusted feather crafted in camera-ready detail. Dress to impress and have your very own paparazzi moment as you make a grand entrance on the red carpet into the star-studded atmosphere of the Terrace Tea Room.
With this first season of Prêt-à-Portea’s red carpet edition, guests will experience a surreal showcase of nine desserts resembling iconic red carpet looks. Our red carpet appearances include Taylor Swift at the 2021 Grammy Awards, featuring Christian Louboutin ankle wrap sandals, recreated as a biscuit with royal pink icing. Bjork's Marjan Pejoski's swan dress from the 2001 Academy Awards, transformed into a pavlova with passion fruit ganache, swan meringues, and sugar eggs. And the most recent, Zendaya’s Valentino gown from the 2023 SAG Awards, is interpreted as a strawberry mousse with a lychee gelée center on lemon shortbread, complete with hand-piped rosettes; plus six more pastry creations channeling breathtaking looks from the A-list.

Designing Prêt-à-Portea
The Red Carpet Collection is a meticulous labor of love, spearheaded by our Executive Pastry Chef, Brooke Martin. Each dessert underwent several rounds of refinement to uphold the renowned legacy of Prêt-à-Portea. Each Billy Porter features four pulled chocolate feathers, while the Zendaya showcases hand-piped strawberry mousse roses. Bringing these designs to life has been an exhilarating challenge, ensuring every detail reflects the allure of the original inspiration.
